Ingres actively pursues MySQL customers

By DatabaseJournal.com Staff

Looking back over 2009, Ingres senior engineering veep Emma McGrattan clearly admits that Ingres has had a tough year, although they did hit most targets—blaming the economy for sluggish business. Looking forward to 2010 she admits does expect business to pick up. One contributing factor for a positive outlook is Oracle’s handling of MySQL as Ingres is actively going after MySQL partners and customers that are concerned about the future of MySQL—luring them over to the VectorWise product.

Earlier this year, Ingres launched the VecrotWise Project which placed a high-performance storage engine into its open source database for computing-intensive data warehouses running on Intel iron. Ingres is hoping on this to blossom in 2010.
