While SQL Server 2008 R2 has been available in a Community Technology Preview version for about six months and downloaded over 150,000 times, the launch now will be sometime by May 2010. This version has introduce users to Master Data Services and StreamInsight technologies as well as introducing many managed self-service BI features.

No pricing is available to date but Microsoft Software Assurance customers can upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2 without paying additional licensing fees.
