Increase Database Performance by removing BLOBs with AvePoint’s DocAve Extender

Large volumes of binary large objects (BLOB) in a database can result in reduced performance and increased SQL licensing cost. To combat this, AvePoint designed DocAve Extender, which now provides beta support for SharePoint 2010. DocAve Extender is a free tool for Microsoft SharePoint’s SQL Server database that offloads BLOB content to disk-based storage, while to end-users it still seems to be in SQL. It also offers control over which SharePoint Site collections that extended storage are applied to and what size objects are treated as BLOBs, as well as compression and encryption options.
