RethinkDB will be looking to provide a MySQL storage engine for solid-state drives. RethinkDB has just closed a round of funding from an impressive set of investors that include FriendFeed founder Paul Buchheit, Google VP Udi Manber, and YouTube founder Steve Chen just to name a few.

Solid-state drives (SSDs) are making a huge push lately, not just in your iPhone or the occasional laptop and will undoubtedly be the future of storage. RethinkDB is trying to get out in front of the curve and offer a fully optimized MySQL storage engine that will take advantage of the benefits of SSDs.
