Contrary to the original beliefs of some, Oracle is increasing investment in MySQL and has already begun adding new features to the open-source database. Oracle’s goal is to make MySQL more competitive with Microsoft’s SQL Server by improving MySQL’s performance and features, and consequently strengthening Oracle’s new foothold in the market of small to mid-sized companies.
