New MySQL Plugin Development Guide Now Available from Packt

By DatabaseJournal.com Staff

A new book on the popular MySQL open source database is now available from Packt. Called MySQL 5.1 Plugin Development, and written by Andrew Hutchings and Sergei Golubchik, this book is all hands-on; guiding readers through creation of feature-rich plugins and is good for MySQL developers who need to interface with the MySQL server. Users of MySQL 5.1 Plugin Development will learn how to build, compile, and install plugins as the book explains the basic features and structure of plugin framework, server monitoring, full-text search in JPEG comments, typo-tolerant searches, and system usage statistics. Readers will also learn such things as how to use the User Defined Functions interface, INFORMATION_SCHEMA plugins, and how the indexing API works.
