Drizzle, tarball version 2011.03.13, has been released by open sourcers. The fork of Oracle’s MySQL database is designed for cloud computing and comes after nearly three years it was announced by Brian Aker. This version is stripped-down; taking out unnecessary features (such as views, triggers, and stored procedures) for the sake of simplicity, speed, and reduced management. Drizzle, is instead, built as a microkernel using C++ that instead relies on plug-ins to expand the features.
