Backup a Binary Version of the Control File

ALTER DATABASE 
      BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO 'd:\orant\control_backup'

Backup a Text Version of the Control File

ALTER DATABASE 
      BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE;
