Oracle with upcoming releases of its database beginning next year is focusing on continued improvements in manageability, increased capacity, and spreading its clustering technology to new platforms.
Internally at Oracle, the next release of the database has been informally referred to as Oracle10i. However, there is no commitment to using that as the shipping product's name, said Andrew Mendelsohn, senior vice president of database and applications server technologies at Oracle, during an interview at the OracleWorld conference. A next release of the database is not expected until approximately mid-2003, with database releases generally scheduled a year apart and the last one, Oracle9i Release 2, occurring in May.
