Sagent Directlink Breathes New Life Into ERP Data

By DatabaseJournal.com Staff

New Sagent Connectivity Module Facilitates Extraction and Utilization of ERP Data from Applications Such As SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and Siebel

SAN DIEGO, Calif., February 3, 2003-Sagent (Nasdaq: SGNT), a leading provider of enterprise business intelligence solutions, today announced the general availability of Sagent DirectLink for Packaged Applications, a new connectivity module that allows users to easily connect and analyze data from proprietary ERP applications such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Siebel, JD Edwards and Manugistics. Today's announcement was made at META Group's METAmorphosis PLUS! Conference & Technology Showcase, San Diego, February 3-5. Sagent DirectLink will enable business analysts as well as data warehousing professionals to readily access critical ERP information that until now has only been available through a manual process of complex coding.

"Companies have made large investments in ERP systems to improve their business operations, and they can now extend the value of those investments by making their ERP data readily available for analysis," said Dave Henry, Sagent VP Marketing. "The ability to connect the wealth of data in ERP systems with other data sources means that companies performing business analysis will now have visibility into their entire business, enabling them to develop more effective strategies and measure their results. Sagent DirectLink, in conjunction with Sagent's new OpenLink front-end connectivity product, make Sagent the ideal data integration and transformation solution to complete any business intelligence application."

Sagent DirectLink allows integration architects to easily establish connections between today's most popular packaged ERP systems and any existing enterprise business intelligence environment without cumbersome hand coding. This enables Sagent users to access, integrate and analyze ERP data buried in proprietary operational applications just as easily as any other data source. Sagent DirectLink also insulates a company from the risks associated with changes or updates to an ERP system during loading, is highly configurable for optimal performance and scalability, and offers a critical security layer to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive ERP data.

Sagent DirectLink for Packaged Applications is based on industry-leading adapter technology from iWay Software and is available for both Windows and Solaris platforms. To learn more about the module, please visit www.sagent.com.
