SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) today announced three record-breaking benchmarks for its Sun Fire(TM) systems, further validating its superior price-performance and storage efficiency on the TPC-H benchmark. Benchmark tests of the Sun Fire V240 and V880 Sun StorEdge(TM) 3310 array running Sybase IQ(TM) 12.5 RDBMS and the Sun ONE platform, were conducted using three different configurations -- 100GB, 300GB and 1000GB (1 Terabyte). In all three circumstances, the Sun Fire systems outperformed the previous world record holders in their respective TPC-H categories, including the Dell 6650, the HP Proliant DL760G2 and the HP 9000, yielding the best price-performance, highest storage efficiency and lowest total system cost.
