Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) today announced three record-breaking
benchmarks for its Sun Fire(TM) systems, further validating its superior
price-performance and storage efficiency on the TPC-H benchmark. Benchmark
tests of the Sun Fire V240 and V880 Sun StorEdge(TM) 3310 array running Sybase
IQ(TM) 12.5 RDBMS and the Sun ONE platform, were conducted using three
different configurations -- 100GB, 300GB and 1000GB (1 Terabyte). In all three
circumstances, the Sun Fire systems outperformed the previous world record
holders in their respective TPC-H categories, including the Dell 6650, the HP
Proliant DL760G2 and the HP 9000, yielding the best price-performance, highest
storage efficiency and lowest total system cost.
