Oracle Database 10g Breaks Performance World Record for 64-Bit Windows System

By DatabaseJournal.com Staff

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Sep. 8, 2003 - (http://www.oracle.com/tellmemore/?2288252) Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ:ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced a world record TPC-C performance benchmark using Oracle(r) Database 10g, Oracle's new software designed to help customers achieve the highest levels of efficiency from their existing Information Technology investments.

Using NEC Express5800/1320Xd with 32 Intel(r) Itanium(r) 2 processors at 1.5GHz with 6 MB of L3 cache on a 64-bit Windows Server 2003 operating system, Oracle Database 10g achieved 521,440.53 tpmC with a price-performance ratio of $11.77/tpmC, outperforming previously published 64-bit Windows Server 2003 results on the same configuration. Working closely with NEC and Intel, today's announcement demonstrates Oracle's ability to support the high-scalability requirements of the most demanding enterprise applications as well as traditional mission-critical OnLine Transaction Processing (OLTP) and Data Warehousing applications.
