JDataConnect 3.0 now supports 64-bit computing

JNetDirect, Inc., announced earlier this week, the availability of JDataConnect 3.0. JDataConnect, a type 3 JDBC driver for servlets, EJBs, JSPs, applets and Java applications, leverages data in ODBC data sources, providing a way for developers to connect Java applications to data sources for which only Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) database drivers exist. JDataConnect bridges the connection from JDBC to ODBC and provides a common data server that supports multiple databases, including Oracle, DB2, Microsoft Access and Informix. The 3.0 version introduces native 64-bit capability allowing Java applications to access data in nearly any database, including 64-bit databases.

The JDBC packages included with the product are JData2_0, JData1_2, JDataLite, and JDataServer. JDataConnect is a type 3 JDBC driver and is also implemented as a 3 tier architecture, providing flexibility, performance, data security, and scalability. The type 3 JDBC driver supports 'Zero Install' on the client; clients need only install a web browser to run the application. Other features include connection pooling, client side pooling, server side pooling, and remote monitoring.

System Requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000, NT Server or Workstation 4.0, Windows 98 or Windows 95
  • JRE 1.4, 1.3 and 1.2
  • ODBC driver for the database you will connect to
  • Recommended: latest ODBC driver for your database
  • JDataServer requires the Winsock 2.0 SDK. For NT ensure that you install Service Pack 3.0.
