MySQL show on the horizon

By DatabaseJournal.com Staff

MySQL, one of the high-profile open source vendors, will hold its MySQL Users Conference 2005 event next week in Santa Clara, Calif.

In addition to tutorials listed as "Sold Out" by MySQL, the agenda features sessions on MySQL clustering, the MySQL 5.0 database and the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/Python/PHP). Attendees also will hear about Mono, which is an open source development platform based on Microsoft .Net technology.

In attracting show sponsors such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Intel, it is clear that interest in MySQL has gone beyond just the free, open source realm and has spread into the commercial arena.
