BindView
Corp. today announced the availability of Compliance Center 2.1, with added
support for Oracle, MS SQL and MS Exchange. The ability to correlate information
against regulatory requirements was limited to operating systems in previous
releases of Compliance Center. This ability has now been extended to include
views of Oracle and MS SQL databases as well as MS Exchange, providing organizations
the capability to translate regulatory mandates into specific IT security
controls that can be documented and enforced.
Compliance Center focuses on security quality compliance--helping
organizations implement the tools, processes and best practices they need in
order to comply with the regulations such as Sarbanes Oxley, FISMA, GLBA, and
HIPAA among others. In addition, Compliance Center assists organizations to build
processes around frameworks, such as COBIT
and ISO 17799.
Chris Smith, Vice President of Field Marketing
for BindView sees compliance as a three-step process. "Step one is
defining which regulations you want to be compliant with, be it CIS, NSA, or
another. Step two is to implement the controls required to be compliant and
step three is to sustain that compliance posture. Compliance Center facilitates this
three-step process." In addition, Compliance Center generates reports that both the business and
technical user can understand.
A key feature of Compliance
Center is that it integrates deeply into existing help desk systems, generating
remediation assignments automatically for IT operations based on criticality
and re-evaluates out-of-compliance systems to confirm that tasks are completed.
Compliance
Center content updates on a continuous basis, providing customers the ability
to update information through what BindView refers to as Rapid Fire Update, or
RFU. The RAZOR Team watches for security bulletins, translates those alerts to
the platforms supported by Compliance Center and makes them available to users.
