SAP database endorsement at Sapphire bolsters feud with Oracle

SAP is endorsing IBM's DB2 database management system for midmarket applications in a move that analysts say could stave off future deployments of SAP on Oracle's 10g.

As many as 60% of SAP customers have deployed SAP applications on Oracle databases, said Noel Yuhanna, a senior industry analyst with Cambridge, Mass.-based Forrester Research.
