By DatabaseJournal.com Staff

[From Oracle Corp.]

14-DEC-2006 05:05 AM According to a recently published report by Enterprise Strategy Group, Oracle(r) Data Guard, a key feature of Oracle Database 10g, helps customers increase availability and data consistency, reduce downtime and add a superior level of data protection, compared to standard tape backup and remote mirroring systems.

The report, written by Enterprise Strategy Group Analyst Brian Babineau, assesses the functionality of Oracle Data Guard. According to the report, Oracle Data Guard enables customers to implement and maintain a standby database, with no geographical limitations, to protect data and increase availability should any event cause a production database to fail. Features such as Data Guard Transport Services, Data Guard Apply Services, and tight integration with Oracle Real Application Clusters and Oracle Flashback Database help customers realize more efficient network utilization, comprehensive data protection, standby utilization and integrated management of their business continuity solutions.
