iAnywhere Solutions Introduces Native .NET Data Provider for SQL Anywhere Studio

November 7, 2002

New technology from iAnywhere Solutions simplifies the creation of database-powered Web services.

iAnywhere Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc., this week announced a native .NET data provider for SQL Anywhere(R) Studio. This technology facilitates integration of SQL Anywhere Studio data with enterprise applications built using the Microsoft(R) .NET Framework and .NET Compact Framework, including Web services. Support for popular programming environments such as Visual C# or Visual Basic .NET speeds and simplifies application development.

"The introduction of our SQL Anywhere Studio .NET data provider is further evidence of our commitment to the .NET platform," said Chris Kleisath, director of engineering at iAnywhere Solutions. "Upholding our strong tradition of open standards support, iAnywhere Solutions is helping developers to harness the power of the .NET Framework by simplifying the development of database-powered enterprise applications."

The .NET data provider offers the following benefits to developers:

  • Application flexibility: The .NET data provider is a full implementation, supporting all classes including DataReader and DataAdapter

  • Superior performance: The .NET data provider is a direct implementation, not requiring OLE DB or ODBC bridges

  • Broad Microsoft Windows(R) support: Encompassing both Windows 32-bit and Windows CE platforms

iAnywhere Solutions will hold a Webcast on November 7 to provide more details about the SQL Anywhere Studio .NET data provider. The current beta program is now open to all developers. The final version of the technology will be available to all current SQL Anywhere Studio customers at no additional charge and is expected to be made available later in Q4 2002.

Developers can register for the Webcast as well as join the beta program by visiting the iAnywhere Solutions Developer Community at http://www.ianywhere.com/developer. The Developer Community is a central resource for technical information to assist with the development and deployment of m-Business solutions.
