BMC bolsters DB2 profile

BMC Software has acquired DGI (Database Guys Inc.), a maker of performance management tools for IBM's DB2 Universal Database, for $3 million, according to BMC.

The acquisition strengthens BMC's SmartDBA data management solutions by enabling the company to more quickly deliver broader DB2 UDB distributed offerings, according to BMC. The company also gets the services of Scott Hayes, DGI founder and an expert on DB2 UDB performance management, BMC, of Houston, said.
