Even more importantly, MySQL might actually spark some fundamental changes in the market. In many ways, it seems like a David and Goliath story: a spunky open-source company eyeing the same market as an enormous competitor that is vacuuming up smaller firms as it goes. Can open-source darling MySQL take on the likes of Oracle , and even larger rivals Microsoft and IBM ? It is not as impossible as it might seem.
