This script has been designed to grant EXECUTE to all non-system stored procedures. Install the script in master to run from any database and pass username or role in single quotes. I find the script useful because (unless I've totally missed something) db_datareader/db_datawriter does not convey execute permissions to stored procedures.
The script has only been tested on SQL 7.0, but it should work on 6.5 and 2000 as well.
