Automated Code Testing Prevails at the PL/SQL Test-A-Thon

[From Quest Software]

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., March 7, 2007 – Quest Software, Inc., today announced the results of the first PL/SQL Test-A-Thon, held last week at Oracle PL/SQL Programming Conference 2007 (OPP) in San Mateo, California. The PL/SQL developer-focused conference featured training on best practices, fundamental and advanced PL/SQL skills, and development using Toad® for Oracle. The Test-A-Thon challenged the 35 participants to build self-verifying test scripts, using their choice of software or using only manual methods. Portugal’s Filipe Silva, Engineer of Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidad do Porto, used Quest® Code Tester for Oracle, the industry’s first commercial PL/SQL automated testing tool, to beat the competition.

To compete in the Test-A-Thon, challengers were presented with four programs, supporting data, a list of test scenarios to perform and the targeted results for each of these scenarios. Competitors had one hour to write tests to show which scenarios succeeded and which failed. Participants were given the option to use the automated code testing tool of their choice or to build their code manually.
