Database Vendor EnterpriseDB Helps Extend Postgres Database

May 19, 2010

EnterpriseDB has worked together with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) to develop Postgres-XC (eXtensible Cluster) which is a write-scalable synchronous multi-master Postgres database cluster with both read and write-scalability. Though still in early development, PostgresXC has important working features such as proven scalability and Global Transaction Management. Global Transaction Management improves data-read and data-write performance by adding clustered database nodes instead of modifying the application, and controls multiple transactions distributed over clustered database nodes.

Postgres-XC is being contributed to the open source community to provide users and developers an opportunity to utilize the code, advance its development and provide valuable feedback to promote additional development. EnterpriseDB and NTT will also be hosting a joint technical session at the Postgres Conference 2010 on Friday, May 21 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
