IBM’s DB2 Is The New Choice for Flexibility

IBM’s DB2 9.7, while it has many new features for advanced performance, has one feature that really stands out one that enable users to easily replace Oracle’s database management system. Gartner, information technology research and advisory firm, says that the most important addition to DB2 is the Oracle compatibility and the implications for the commercial off-the-shelf software applications community. Oracle applications can simply just run on DB2 and most commercial off-the-shelf providers that offer Oracle DBMS can easily switch to IBM’s DB2.

Gartner researchers said,

“Oracle customers desiring to move away from Oracle should consider this release as an option for rapid, low-cost migration of in-house-developed applications.”
