JNetDirect Sponsors New SimpleJDBC Open Source Project for Amazon’s SimpleDB

JNetDirect will sponsor the new SimpleJDBC Open Source Project for Amazon’s SimpleDB; helping to bridge SQL and NoSQL databases and making it possible to use standard JDBC interfaces for a variet of tools when working with relational data. “SimpleDB isn’t a traditional relational database — in fact, it’s quite different,” noted Andrew Glover, Project Owner, President of Beacon50 and member of JNetDirect’s Board of Directors. “Nevertheless, it is possible to map basic SQL commands, and therefore JDBC, to the core API offered by Amazon. Using SimpleJDBC is straightforward as all that is required to use the driver is an Amazon Web Services account, Java 5, and the jar files provided in the download.”
