10gen has announced MongoDB v1.8 of the scalable data store; introducing journaling for fast recovery in case of crashes, support for covered and sparse indexes, incremental map/reduce, as well as an investment in performance and scale-out capabilities that has seen improvements to replication and sharding the newest release.
