After the acquisition of Sun, MySQL users were somewhat strapped to obtain support from Oracle. Now, through SkySQL, users can now get support from an alternative source.

“I am happy to see that there is now another home for MySQL talent being formed,” said creator of MySQL, Michael “Monty” Widenius about SkySQL, a new company which will proved enterprise class support and services for the MySQL ecosystem. SkySQL is currently “hiring in all areas;” its CEO is Ulf Sandberg, former senior vice president of global services at MySQL.
