Oracle’s Technology Network has release an Oracle by example tutorial on using Microsoft Excel with the Oracle database 11g; showing how easy it is to perform BI analysis and reporting. Connectivity is made possible with Simba’s MDX Provider for Oracle OLAP data connectivity product.

Simba’s MDX Provider for Oracle OLAP enables the use of ad hoc query and analysis capabilities of Microsoft Excel PivotTables and PivotCharts with Oracle OLAP BI data as well as making use of Excel’s ad hoc query and analysis and Excel’s new advances in multi-dimensional MDX query language data standard. With the tutorial users will view stored, calculated and custom OLAP measures, use hierarchical navigation for drilling down through data, apply report formatting options for report enhancement, and make use of visualization tools.
