While Oracle is said to still provide source code and limited product support for customers, the MySQL database on IBM i operating systems will no longer be provided. Last month, on December 7th, Oracle announced the end of life for MySQL binaries for operating systems that included i5/OS V5R4, IBM i version 6.1, AIX version 5.3, Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 3, SuSE Enterprise Linux version 9, OpenSuSE Linux version 9, and the generic X86 Linux distribution developed with Intel’s ICC compiler. The announcement included all versions of MySQL, binaries of the free community edition, and the free enterprise and commercial editions. While downloads are still available there will not be any release fixes or enhancements.
