Oracle Loses Open Source Advocate in Ken Jacobs

Still on the Oracle website, Ken Jacobs is/was:

“vice president of product strategy in Oracle’s server technologies division…. held a variety of technical and management positions including oversight of database product management and product marketing… helped guide the development of the Oracle Database product over the years… From 1985-1993, he represented Oracle on the ANSI SQL Standards committee… Since October 2005, he has managed the development team for InnoDB, a transactional storage distributed with the MySQL open source database system. Jacobs has long been a prominent spokesperson for Oracle, and an advocate inside the company for customers’ interests.”

So it would make one wonder why Jacobs has decided to leave Oracle when MySQL and the open source community might need him most. Reported by CNET, Jacobs made mention to the fact his resignation was sparked by him not being able to head up “all things Open Source at Oracle” and take the proverbial MySQL reins.
