Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 is looking at shipping out later this year with Business Intelligence, widening the scoop of BI across the enterprise. The new server, delivered in SQL Server 2008, is a self service BI and looks to bring intuitive tools to help maximize returns on investment and increase the IT efficiency. Being available to all employees, the technologies and capabilities will lead to better, faster, and more relevant decisions and the with the Master Data Services one can manage and build data platforms without the help of IT professionals.
Kamal Hathi, program manager of OLAP Product Team for Microsoft Corporation said that “Microsoft is set to release its SQL Server 2008R2 with a lot of features on BI. Like it allows the business user to themselves build their complicated analytical models without help from IT professions or vendors. This is a next big breakthrough in BI space since our goal is to reach the masses. By providing skills, processes, technologies, applications and practices used to support decision making through familiar Microsoft Office experiences such as SharePoint & Excel, we empower an entirely new segment of business users to build and consume rich BI solutions as part of their everyday work. This next version of SQL Server 2008 makes it much easier to handle larger data including analytical data that is very difficult to scale.”
