Enterprise will move data to the cloud
Everyone is talking about cloud-based services and according to Slavik Microsoft will push the Azure cloud platform and SQL Azure database services. If this is the case, as noted by Slavik, we will be forced to ask the difficult question of how we protect data in cloud environments. Clearly this is another layer that will add complexity to monitoring and detecting intruders–especially when we have yet to fully protect our data in more standard environments.
Virtualization of database services
Also noted by Slavik, virtualization will become even more prevelant for all sizes of organizations. What makes Slavik’s prediction / trend watching unique is that Slavik actually comes out and says that more backend services, which includes databases virtualization, will become more common–attributing the maturity of the platform to the new-found openness to virtualization.
