The European Commission (EC) is Expected to Update the EU Data Retention Directive

The European Commission (EC) is expected to update the EU Data Retention Directive, possibly reducing the current 6 to 24 months required for data archiving. The EC is expected to put out a full report that includes planned changes and while data retention is clearly not going away there will probably be reductions in the retention periods for data such as mobile telephony, fixed telephony, internet data, and email.
