In an effort to upgrade to a clusterd environment and modernize IT, Georgian College beefed up with Oracle 11g and RAC—helping Georgian College improve the performance, availability, and scalability of its Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise applications. The college deployed a four-node (Dell M600s with Dual X5450 4-core Xeon Processors and 64 GB RAM ) Oracle database cluster on industry-standard Linux enterprise applications used by students, faculty, and administration; a mixture of about 40,000 full-time and part-time students and staff.

Our constituents are ecstatic with the application uptime and performance we’re experiencing.”
The college’s migration off of legacy systems helped reduce resource expenses, allowed them to still run ancillary and legacy systems with few issues, and cut the registration window in half.
