By DatabaseJournal.com Staff

[From Application Security Inc.] New York, NY - June 13, 2005 - Application Security Inc. (www.appsecinc.com,) today released an ASAP Update for its application vulnerability assessment scanner - AppDetective. AppSecInc customers will gain heightened security protection via several new checks for MySQL and Lotus Notes/Domino vulnerabilities which are considered "high risk." Spurred by AppSecInc research team discoveries, customers will also benefit from enhanced checks for vulnerabilities on Oracle, MySQL and Lotus/Notes Domino. The new checks include tests for vulnerabilities to server buffer overflows in Lotus Notes/Domino and create function code execution in MySQL checks, which would otherwise enable attackers to gain access to the database and thus an enterprise's most critical data. This latest release includes support for Microsoft SQL Server 2000, SP4 in that latest AppSecInc service pack checks.
