IBM is launching a mastery exam to help DBAs identify and resolve thorny issues, the company will announce on Tuesday.

The new DB2 Problem Determination Mastery Exam is designed to give database administrators the skills to investigate and isolate database issues such as the implementation of workarounds or fixes; to deal with common installation issues such as upgrades, instance creation and license management; to identify the source of communication problems in a client/server environment; to use DB2's problem-determining tools and to interpret the results to prevent problem reoccurrence; and to flag application development errors and analyze information stored in database and operating system logs.
