Roger Burkhardt, the president and CEO of Ingres, will be participating in an InformationWeek virtual event called “Modernizing IT Governance, Risk, and Compliance to Accelerate Flexibility and Visibility.” Burkhardt will be participating in the panel called “How to Prepare for a GRC-enabled Cloud:Understanding New Requirements Around Building Stronger Governance in the Public Cloud,” which is to take place Wednesday, February 10, from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. (EST).
Being CEO of Ingres, and Ingres being the second largest open source company, Burkhardt will surely bring an interesting perspective to the panel on embracing alternative technologies.
As a precursor: Burkhardt states,
“The cloud model provides an excellent opportunity to move to a more flexible and lower cost model, but it requires smart choices by IT leaders to manage risk and service levels to avoid being locked into proprietary interfaces. Stock exchanges are among the earliest providers of cloud services and I look forward to sharing my experiences with an audience of InformationWeek readers who are developing their strategies to exploit the cloud model. Cloud computing is the future and we are at the start of what could be a decade long cycle as enterprises build out their cloud computing technologies. Open source underpins most leading current cloud implementations because of its superior economics and faster innovation. I believe 2010 will be a year in which open source adoption moves up the stack in cloud applications to include application servers, databases, integration tools, and systems management.” |
