Microsoft has developed SQL Compact Edition 4 (SQL CE 4), the next generation embedded database, intended for ASP .NET web application development and creating projects on top of Windows and providing a database when web sites don’t require a full data platform. SQL CE 4 is said to be good for databases of less importance and those requiring a xcopy deployable solution.
