Open Source and Proprietary Databases Gain Secure, Encrypted Connection From ActivePython

New open source Python modules for database connection and network encryption have now been added to the ActivePython Business, Enterprise, and OEM Editions from ActiveState. Secure connections are provided for mysql-python, psycopg2, cx_Oracle, pyodbc, and pymssql. While extra security of authenticated connections is provided by encryption through M2Crypto, a Python wrapper for the OpenSSL cryptographic library.

“Adding these key cryptographic and database modules to our ActivePython Business and Enterprise Editions extends ActiveState’s world-class support coverage to these key areas. This makes it even easier for enterprise customers to rapidly install, build and deploy enterprise-class applications that require secure access to their enterprise data whether they are storing it on the cloud or behind firewalls,”
