Big Data Scalability on MySQL With Support for Hot Schema Changes

By DatabaseJournal.com Staff

Tokutek has announced TokuDB v5.0 for MySQL and MariaDB; enabling big data scalability on MySQL with support for hot schema changes. With the release Tokutek allows for hot indexing and hot column addition and deletion so customers do not need to wait hours or days to revise the data model and begin building queries. TokuDB v5.0 changes provide exception agility as hot schema changes allow for read and write operations to continue as index creation or column additions are done, provides unmatched speed as fractal tree indexes are optimized for insertions, and gives maximum scalability as fractal tree index performance scales even as the index exceeds available RAM.
