Two new utilities for SQL Server

Point International Limited has released two new utilities for MS SQL Server, Attach DB and FindInSQL. The utilities run on Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 and 2000.

AttachDB Utiltiy

AttachDB can be used for simple administration tasks with command line arguments, in bat files and setup scripts, without requiring Enterprise Manager. In addition, it checks that SQL Server is running the latest service pack. AttachDB requires Visual Basic 6.0 runtime, ADO 2.1 or later and mscomctl.ocx ActiveX control.

AttachDB Features:

  • Attach/Detach - Attach both .mdf and .ldf files. Disconnect all users during detach process with the click of a button
  • Backup/Restore - Backup and restore the database and/or database log
  • Run Script - A function that runs T-SQL scripts from a text file
  • DB Settings - Configure the database recovery model

AttachDB is free for non-commercial use and can be downloaded from the website. The registration fee for commercial use is $25. The registered version updates automatically, via the internet.

FindInSQL Utility

FindInSQL is a utility that locates string occurrence in SQL Server objects. The program uses VB6 runtime, Janus GridEx2000 and Microsoft Richtextbox ActiveX controls, which are included in the installation package.
