Newly released from Talend, an open-source software company, is Talend 4.0, a single Eclipse-based IDE that unites data integration, data quality, and master data management, and provides a common data repository; allowing users to consolidate their projects. Other updates include an impact analysis feature, and failover clustering for Talend’s deployment environment.

Oracle has just released the MySQL 5.5 beta, and one of the biggest changes is the switch from MyISam as the default storage engine to InnoDB, which is owned by Oracle. MyISam will continue to be supported and customers will have the choice of using it, however.

The Critical Patch Update, from Oracle contains 47 new security fixes across Oracle products, including newly acquired Sun product lines.
